• Designing a wide range of print materials, including brochures, flyers, ads, direct mail, catalogs, board game materials, greeting cards, outdoor and trade show banners and coffee table books
• Developing brand identities for 10+ clients, including color schemes and font selection

Major accomplishments:
Launched successful digital design business, Papermaid Studio, offering printables for thank you cards, gift tags, stickers, postcards, posters and more, with over 50,000 digital downloads sold to date

Graphic Designer  

Responsible for the design and layout of Penzeys ONE magazine and the 56-page Penzeys Spices catalog, including:
• Collaborating with the design team to create concepts and execute designs that align with the company’s goals and brand guidelines
• Directing photo shoots, as well as handling photo scanning, editing, and retouching
• Reviewing and correcting all proofs before printing

Major accomplishments:
• Led the complete redesign of the Penzeys Spices catalog, enhancing fonts, photographic styles and layout to improve readability, product placement, and sales
• Developed a new workflow system for the magazine and catalog, including building InDesign templates and style guides to streamline the creative process and ensure consistency across issues


>> Kalmbach Publishing Co.  |  (Aug 2000 – Jan 2006, Feb 2006 – Jun 2007 Freelance) Waukesha, WI
Senior Graphic Designer

Responsible for the design and layout of The Writer, American Snowmobiler, Classic Toy Trains, Dollhouse Miniatures, BeadStyle and Bead&Button magazines as well as:
• Designing visual elements for a variety of editorial print and digital projects, including hobby books, ads, brochures, direct mail, web ads, logos and trade show displays
• Collaborating with the Art Director and editorial teams to develop, maintain and align magazine branding with established standards
• Participating in design reviews and revisions, incorporating team feedback.
• Directing photo shoots, handling photo editing and retouching
• Building and updating Adobe InDesign templates for monthly production

Major accomplishments:
• Designated as Team Leader for The Writer magazine, including delegating feature stories to designers, leading interdepartmental critiques of layouts, reviewing, correcting and approving all proofs before printing, and managing the workflow schedule for each issue, ensuring projects stayed within budget and met deadlines
• Selected as a key member of the InDesign Transition Team, training and supporting 20+ Art department members during the switch from Quark Xpress to InDesign

Sole designer of magazine encompassing everything from cover and story layouts to house and outside print advertisements. Also implemented redesign of magazine and media kit.
